Re: leaves turning brown of coral jasmine

It is natural for haar singhaar have brown leaves during colder periods of the year. Fresh khaad can be bad as well. For pots it is better to err on the side of lower amounts of fertilizer. I start feeding very very small amount when the plant is fully established, e.g. light covering of khaad on th...

Re: identify this

It is called Guaiacum officinale (nurserymen call it Lignum as well)... one of the most beautiful trees of Karachi. When in full bloom, the whole tree is covered with blue and white flowers. The only problem is that it grows very very slowly!

Re: leaves turning brown of coral jasmine

Too much fertilization killed the poor plant. Don't use urea in potted plants. Khaad is best for potted plants. Urea can suddenly change the pH of the soil and no wonder it was too harsh on the plant. Haar singhaar is very sensitive to water logging as well.

Thanks, yes the white variety is edible. The one you posted (purple) is quite rare. I was looking for the purple one for years.

Re: Yawer garden

Your Kachnaar is different from what is commonly available. Our local Kachnar is pinkish and it has thin petals. Where did you buy this particular variety?
Would you mind if you keep some pods of this Kachnar for me. Thanks.

Re: ID please

I checked Flowers of India webpage and it your plant turns out to be Silene pendula or perhaps Silene dioica. It is not classified as a weed there.
It is quite beautiful anyway. If you pull out the root, is it very fragrant root?

Arif sahab, many thanks. I am not in Pak for couple of months. If you have this purple Bauhinia seeds like the one in this picture (different from what grows on Islamabad streets), may I request that you keep some pods for me.
