It was not the right time to change the pot but as you already did now wait until March or when it will start sprouting again and monitor the stem, if the stem remain healthy then no worries new buds will appear and they grow new leaves, however the main stem should remain healthy and if you observe any signs of rotting then cut the effected area and secure a healthy stem for new start and if it start rotting from bottom means root then cut the stem and put it in a glass of water and plant it back in Spring.

I think not to worry for that as long as you have a stem to start again, and if the stem show some shrinking symptoms, wilting or looks dehydrated/lack of food supply then you have to check the stem from the bottom, because as per my personal experience usually money plants start rotting from bottom (just under the soil) specially in winter but even in that stage as a last resort you can cut the dying stem and leave it in a glass of water with at least two areal roots inside the water or if the roots are damaged then don't worry just make sure the bud or that joint from where areal roots and leaf emerge should be in the water and it will develop new roots and next season you can plant that stem with the water developed roots to have a new healthy plant.
I hope this will help and work for you.
