Thats why it did not work and garlic is missing too :-(

Never use a laundry detergent on plants. It has tons of other harsh stuff (bleaches, enzymes, & alkalis etc). Body soap is useless as an insecticide.

Should we use Liquid hand wash or liquid dish wash with garlic mixture?

Mealybugs are a nonsense in the garden.they are very hard to kill scales.Organic pesticides are of no use.use Acceta meprid.it will kill all the mealy bugs.Mealy does not only kills the plant but also make the floors very dirty.

Home Made Organic Pesticides

Soap Spry
Mix two table spoon dishwashing liquid and one table spoon cooking oil in one gallon (4.5 liter) water.
Effective on aphids, spider mites, whiteflies and thrips. Soap spray is not a preventative. It acts on contact, which means that it must touch the insect pest in order to be effective.

Garlic Spray
Blend one whole garlic bulb and mix with one gallon of water.
Allow the mixture to stand for 24 hours.
Strain the mixture.
Add one tablespoon of cooking oil.
Used for aphids, snails, chewing caterpillars or any soft-bodied insects.
Note: Garlic spray is an excellent mosquito repellant, spraying on plants & ponds will surely repel mosquitoes.
I used the soap spray on aphids yesterday and it worked!! prior to that i used pesticide it didn't even nudge them :o
Thanx Farhan bhai :)

Dear Najam, Which soap did you try? The handwashing soaps are very gentle. When we mentioned soap - it meant few drops of dishwashing liquids plus garlic extract as explained above. Add enough dishwashing liquid (one drop at a time) that you should feel that water as "slippery" when you rub you fingers.
I used your formula but no result  :?

Sorry to hear that...homemade recipes don't always work. May be quantities of garlic and soap were lower- hence less effective. May be the white flies had a good shower :-) But if you still like homemade recipes I have two for you, I have experimented with them.

1) Boil tobacco leaves in water and spray that. Keep in mind it is a brown colored staining liquid. So I would not recommend that.

2) This is quite effective on mealy bugs and other nuisances- dry reetha In Urdu and soapwort , Boil half a kg in water very well. Strain and spray. This solution is extremely bitter and potentially toxic as well. Use with caution!
