In my opinion this excellent work should be user friendly, from a beginner to an expert.
Say I am new in gardening; I want to develop a garden.
I want to plant a few fruit trees, a few ornamental/flowering trees, some shrubs, some bushes, quite a few vines, bulbs etc.
HOW IS THIS DATA GOING TO HELP ME?
Instead of a data based alphabetically on botanical names the usual format of any book I would love to see it in following format.
MAIN heading; Trees, Shrubs, Bushes, Vines, Bulbs, Annuals & Perennials
Fruit
Flowering/Ornamentals
Common name & picture
Growing Areas
Botanical Name
Family
Genus
Specie
Life cycle
Flowering Months
Flower Colour
Name the city/cities where you have seen the plant is growing.
Frost Tender
Heat/sun tolerance

Comments

I also feel the same way & have probably expressed it also somewhere.I think,to make it real user friendly,it should open on the first page with the option of various groups suggested by Brig Arif,followed by the next page showing a photo album(may be miniaturised) with the common name in alphabetical order along with botanical name & tab to 'read more',which once opted should lead to the main page of the selected plant giving full details as being compiled,duly modified as suggested by Brig Arif & as agreed. If considered essential,another album may also be compiled in the alphabetical order of botanical name,to enable a person who knows only this name,to enter the Database.
