All lettuce including iceberg lettuce like cold weather for their growth..

Hey Sara, looking forward to your photos. I am not a great fan of iceburg :( but I do have many other varieties that are doing well. Don't give up on the icenurg and keep us posted.

ahussain, sorry to prove you wrong but lettuces do grow well even in the absense of cold weather. As mentioned in my previous post, I grow them all year round.

hey johara ,
ill plant the seeds again and see how they do this time around . the normal leaf lettuce i have is doing pretty well so is the pakchoi , the tomato plants are starting to bloom , the baby cucumbers have gone mad and spread quite a bit but im enjoying them so its okay !! the broccoli didnt transplant well and most have died will plant seeds again .
your lettuce looks great !! are they planted in full sun ?

Sara,

They only get the afternoon sun. I have had a few tomatoes from my plants but they are not as good as last years harvest. The leaves are shrivilling up and some are turning yellow. I think I will seed new tomato seeds again. The small cucumbers I planted were eaten alive by bugs :(. I have planted green beans nd peas but they are taking their own sweet time so is the eggplant. Patience is what is required and if I fail I will try again and again :).

what types of lettuce are working for you ? i tried the ice burg ( got some seeds from japan and from malaysia ) both didnt grow ... maybe i should get some loose leaf varieties .
second batch of broccoli did well am enjoying it !
all my tomatoes are dead ! cucumbers are still at it . i got a thai plant called morning glory its used in food dont know if you know about it but its really yummy , its about a foot and a half tall now .
ill go get my camera and get some pictures .. just been lazy about it !!
