Some years ago I was fascinated with the fragrance of Gardenia. After a few years of disappointment I was able to grow them to my liking. Now they are 6 feet tall and in full bloom, yes sir my eyes say so but my nose failed to acknowledge it (under the nose it is still the sweetest smelling}, whereas in case of Motia it was the otherway round. I have decided to keep only one plant and replace the others with MOTIA.
Two thai varieties are commonly available in Lahore. One is the tietensis double which is with very broad ugly leaves and not a compact plant but tolerates high PH overwatering. The other is vietanese gardenia with single flowers very fragrant. Both thrive on neglect.
