A few general questions on Bananas :
- How good Is this variety & can it be successfully grown in Potohar ? If yes, from where can it be procured ?
- Other good varieties successful in Potohar ? Learnt in Sindh, Dhakka & Bombay are popular.
- I have recently planted Bombay variety sent to me by somebody; Is it OK or which other better variety be planted ?

Hi Munir

Photohar is next to Azad kashmir, results will more or less the same with musa dwarf jamican red. This variety is not availble in Pakistan to my knowledge.

There is no variety called Bombay or Dhakka.List of some cold hardy edible varieties.

Hi Khalid

I cant help you with other fruit, but all bananas can be grown in pots for ornamental use.No banana will fruit for you in a 18 inch pot.

The smallest banana that you will get to fruit in a pot is a super dwarf Cavendish, which grows around 1 meter to 1 and a half meter, it is smaller than a dwarf Cavendish but you will need a large pot.

Thank you for your response. Don't think these varieties would be available in Plant Nurseries here; in fact, not likely that the sellers even know the varieties of their plants at all. Rechecked; In Sindh there are banana varieties named Dhakka & Bombay, maybe locally then.
