Smog envelopes lahore

Today the haziness has drastically upped its scale and the temperature has shown a marked 1 degree drop from yesterday.
I planned to do some fixes for my garden but the cold makes me stiff, and the gentle longing for a warm heated corner starts.
It's as much a sign to decrease watering on plants going dormant as it is to take out n dust the space heaters!
But on the environmental aspect of this, smog is a sign of air pollution, right? Can certain trees specifically help filter air n clean to improve this situation?
