Izhar, let us not confuse coco coir with coco pith (the so called coco peat). Coco coir is the stiff long strands used to make ropes, Matting or was commonly used as stuffing and is totally useless as soil amender.
Rice husk is a good soil amender but decomposes more rapidly, simple saw dust is even better if supplemented with urea as it depletes the soil of Nitrogen while degrading.

True Coco peat has no nutrients n now I know why my freesia failed last year as I had planted them in cocopeat with with little soil . that's why the bulbs shrunk and because the peat held more water the bulbs and growth perished without giving a single flower. So as an experiment with lilies I have used 50% bhall, 30% aged leaf mould , 10% peat and 10% vermicompost. N I hope this time I will atleast I will have a garden with flowers .

What is Coco peat? Coco Peat is not a peat, it is un decomposed pith of Coco nut shell covering available in fine and chunk form (Arif).
Locally called NERYAL PEAT
Coco peat and coco blocks is easily available from all seeds shops.( Khabbab)
