can we use humic acid as fertilizer and soil conditiner for flowering plant(annuals)s and if yes then in how much quantity.it is available in 2 kg packing worth rs 550 in local market (sheikhupura) for seasonal crops like wheat and rice

i Have doubts about the price. I checked couple of days back and it was 4 Kg for Rs.400.

20 kg for Rs 1800.but there are still doubts about this fertilizer & too many complaints from the professional farmers.

In simple terms humic acid is not a fertilizer and does not directly effect plant growth(disputed though), it effects indirectly by improving poor soil through improving soil porosity as well as water retention, fertilizer retention, microbial activity and lowering of PH which makes micro nutrients available to plants.

Cow's dung (gober) is a decent source of humic acids. No need to buy a separate expensive source I guess. Humic acid is the brown coloured fraction that we see from water leached from organic rich soils. Unfortunately, even to date, nobody exactly knows what humic acids are. It is really a complex mixture of organic acids & perhaps polymers. So this is not a "true" fertilizer with known composition.

Recommended dose on the packet is 1Kg/acre. It is worth a try.

as a matter of fact ...using humic acid (as potassium humate) significantly reduced the plant's overall growth.. will post the pics of my amaranthus tricolor... not recommended by me atleast...

Potassium humate, as Izhar shb would know, is a salt of weak organic "acids" and thus it is alkaline. From the pH data I have, potassium humate suspension would have a pH of 9-10 which is really bad for most plants. I was reading a thesis on the effect of potassium humate on wheat. It was shown to have no effect. And as I said earlier, natural gober has tons of humic acids. Whatever is coming from natural is best for plants. Applying expensive humic acid perhaps as same as buying "mineral water" to feed plants when ordinary tap water works the best.
