Here are the pictures. Madinah nursery had slightly bigger plants also which were also for Rs 1000 but we thought we'll buy the ones which are flowering. Atleast we know the vines have broken dormancy if they had any! You can find these vines currently ay many nurseries in Pattoki. Atleast we know our ones are fragrant. I think the true fragrance will be judged in the humid evenings of August.

My laptop is out of order so i cannot post picture. The flower on my vine is in final stage very yellow. The fragrance is of melons though the kids say that this is banana fragrance. Very fruit fragrance indeed.

Dwarf ylang ylang is still not in lahore but i wonder if it is in karachi then why not lahore???? I think the tree is faster growing as compared to vine?

The dwarf tree is supposedly not as fragrant as the large variety and also less blooms from what I have researched.

I wonder why osmanthus species are not available here, they are famous for their perfume. The legendary book "Scented Flora of the World" by Roy Genders is considered the best on fragrant plants but not available easily. There are thousands of plants which are worth trying here for their fragrance. This thread from gardenweb is very good http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load ... 14096.html

The mock oranges including Californian mock orange Carpentaria and other mock oranges like Philadelphus and pittosporum should grow well in lahore. There is another plant suitable for hot dry climates abronia aka sand verbena hailing from texas very fragrant flowers but not showy though.

Another plant is exacum affine, very fragrant flowers. This is a plant from eustoma family(Gentiana) i think it also should perform good here.

Maybe in karachi but does not it need constant moist soils? It read it needs a consistent climate which might not be available in lahore.

After Khabbabs advice and seeing a beautiful honeysuckle bloom in Pattoki I am really interested in growing them. There are many kinds but not sure which ones are available here. The one I saw in Pattoki was yellow white and fragrant and maybe one of the most beautiful one. There are some pink/white ones which are very beautiful also.

I am growing one in pot. I grew it from a cutting i took from Lawrence gardens lahore. It grows best in ground as it is very invasive. Partial shade in lahore for young plants.
