anyone growing natal plum?

Post by AnasAsifa »

I'm thinking of growing as a hedge. I've read its flowers smell like jasmine or gardenia. Can anyone confirm that?

Natal Plum not flower profusely & smell is faint, so if you are growing it for flowering & smell it is not a good option.

thanx izhar and mir sahab I was just tempted by the smell of natal plum described in one of the websites. Instead I bought a gardenia and kaamini. I bought the gardenia from diamond it was in some very light soil less mix and some of its lower branch leaves are turning yellow it is in 12 inch plastic pot and is about 4 feet in height should i transplant it into bigger pot for better growth? And what soil ratio should I use for better drainage?

for Gardenia, do not transplant it now.. instead give it liquid fertilizer in 1/2 strength with regular watering also use Ferrous sulfate every 15 days interval.. transplant it in the monsoon only..

You can buy Ferrous sulfate from Abdul Seed store in DHA.. yes you can apply NPK 17:17:17 lightly... no need to use iron nails and vinegar...
