Sowing for spring 2013

Post by Muhammad Arif Khan »

It is time for sowing, I think I have sown much more then I can use.
That happens if you have seeds of your own. The packet of seeds you buy usually has only 20-30 seeds. Pansy fizzy seeds were Rs. 3 per seed.
It takes a little effort but it is worth collecting your own seeds
Coreopsis seeds are not available in the market, last year Dr. AY Khan gave me a few plants, now I have a hundred seedlings

Enough to keep me busy for the next month.

regular fertilizer in low doses works best for annuals... you can fertilizer after 1 week of transplanting... if you are using compost then you will need fertilizer after 2 months of transplanting..

I start with soluble NPK 1-1-1 diluted to 50 PPM, N after a week and slowly increasin to 100 PPM. After transplanting it depends on preplanting prepration of beds/pots, a balanced fertiliser in dilution of 200 parts per Million may be given fortnightly.

Dear Kalim, you can use Baalu mati and ojhri ki khaad in 4:1 ratio.. these items are available from any nearby nursery... mix them well and you can grow almost every annual flower or vegetable seed in this mixture.. you will learn with time how to use other stuff for special and rare seeds... keep on reading the posts here, you will find lots of information..
