Hi,

recently I heard about outside sowing for terrestial orchids like pleiones. As I have actually two seed pods on my pleione , I want to try this "sowing on cardboards".
I'll give you the links you need to study :
http://meadowmaker.typepad.co.uk/orchid ... board.html
http://buildingofeden.blogspot.fr/2012/ ... epies.html

and here the step by step in pictures, but not really easy to understand, so I find, because the several mixtures .... somebody can explain it ?
http://meadowmaker.typepad.co.uk/photos ... index.html

Who will try it ??

nice links
I also visited one site that I found very informative but that is specifically for pleione orchids http://www.pleione.info/ and if you try cardboard one then do share your experience with us and do take photos at every stage for our better understanding and good luck for your experiment ;)

Yes, I saw your link in your first post, that is a very exciting story.
So, you encouraged me to go on this. Yesterday I cut the seed pods, one from Pleione limprichtii and two from Pleione bulbocodioides. I'll show the pictures later.
Now, I'm preparing the different mediums/liquids, but have always to wait for some ingredients.

Anybody has experience with Phalaenopsis, mine after bloom has produced 5 or 6 bulblets type things in the roots tip, are these nodes for new baby plant ?? It is white color at root tip in the photos.

These are just fresh roots and not the nodes.. although they can survive in the plastic pots but i would suggest you to plant it in a clay pot of same size or if you can find a pot of coconut fiber...

Hi Izhar,
why is it better to pot them in a clay pot?
Here the orchids are mostly offered in a transparent plastic pots. Yes, the plastic isn't really ecological, I agree, but perhaps the seller thinks that orchid roots need light?
So, for the question : Since I let do my Phalaenopsis themselves they are flowering every year and for a long time. Even once a Phalaenopsis dried and lost its leaves. As I didn't disturbed this pot I had in fall the surprise that it does new leaves. These are very small now, but they are there.

Sorry for the rangement. The baby is not the one from the first flower, it's another phaelenopsis. :)

The beginning :
You'll see the pleiones from which I took the seed pods. Sorry for the picture of P. bulbocodioides. This pleione has a slightly darker red colour than P. limprichtii. Another distinction is, that the P. bulbocodioides bulb is planted into the ground, although P. limprichtii is so over the ground. Outsides (they are very hardy !) P. bulbocodioides never flowered in my garden, but the other, yes.

So, here you'll see first the flowers and then the seed pods cuttet and opened.
