Planting Green Chillies

Iam in lahore...is this the season for seed sowing of chilies....how can sabut laal mirch give green chillies...sorry for being dumb here.

Sabut laal mirch has seeds in them which you can sow to grow chillies simple as that and its better to grow chillies in the spring the plants do'nt set fruit in cold weather so no use in growing now

HELLO THERE. i am also plnning on planting chillies in my house. i live in karachi and do not have enough space for a garden bed. do you think i can grow chillies in a container. also how many seeds should i sow in those small pots before i can transfer them to larger pots. and can i use styrofoam glassess with holes at the bottom for propper drainage to act as nusery pots for germination of seeds. do you have to cover the pots to protect them from birds and mice etc.
PLEASE REPLY. I AM A NEWBIE AND IN NEED OF HELP WITH SOOOO MANY SEEDS

What type of chillies do you plan to grow? If you have a picture of the seed packet that would be great. Secondly, chillies do best in full sunlight. Do you get enough sunlight? I am afraid of styrofoam because it can easily cause water logging leading to root rot.

I get about eight hours of sunlight on my patio. and i wanted to use the seeds from fresh chillies. one of my nieghbours grew good chillies from them. i took seeds from the red ones as suggested. what do you suggest about the nursery growing. should i sow them directly in the pots i want to put them into or buy smaller pots from the nursery. and what amount of water do they actually aquire. and the potting mix. and how much time do the seeds take to germinate.

@Sayra Sabut laal mirch will give the same oval chilli you planted not that long green chilli, for that you need to dry the green chilli until its red and then sow them in Compost 1 to 1.5 inches deep and atleast 2 inches apart and water frequently. Also stick a tooth pick or "Tinka" just beside every seed for support.

Fahad u have to sow seeds in well porous, loamy soil and not in compact or hard soil. Dont sow seed deeply in the soil. Chilli seeds are small and thin. after spreading seeds on the soil, just put light soil or compost like cocoa peat. if u sow deeply in the soil they will never sprout out.

After sowing seeds, carefully water ur plant, that seeds dont get disturb. if u r growing in container or pot then cover ur pot with the polythene sheet so that moisture retain in the soil.
