Planting Green Chillies

Salam........
I have tried growing green chillies through seeds a number of times but I never succeed. Nothing grows out of the seed. I'm confused? Is there some special technique for growing chillies ? (I usually just take out seeds from a fresh chilli and plant them, I've even tried planting dried seeds but that also doesn't help)

Perhaps you should get seeds from a shop. Seeds from a GREEN chilli will probably not germinate because you need seeds from RIPE fruit ie. red chillis. If you really want to try growing chillis from seeds in the kitchen, then you might have success with seeds from SABUT lal mirch.

Buy the seeds from reputable seed shops, they usually germinate in 3-4 days, now it is the time to plant them in Karachi... you can buy seedlings from nurseries too..

Thanks for replies.. I'll try with sabut lal mirch seeds.... as I don't know of any 'reputable' seed shops here plus no one will take me anywhere for a couple of seeds.

In the middle of March I will have all sorts of imported pepper seeds for sale.

@Diyaa.... You need to get Hybrid seeds....you can buy from any seed shop.
Plant seeds in pot initially ...cover them with compost.
After few days..when plants get out and gain size near to 2 or 3 inch...than transplant them into field.
Make ridges and transplant every single plant with a gap of 2 feet maximum.

i hv planted green chillies by seed 3,4 days ago. still no signs of seedlings. waiting for any result....

i've sowed seeds in start of march then transplanted them in april cz their growth was v slow so dnt be confused with transplanting after a month...and its almost one more month they are still lyk dwarfs but yeah tehy r flowering and i saw 2 small chillies also

Iam in lahore...is this the season for seed sowing of chilies....how can sabut laal mirch give green chillies...sorry for being dumb here.
