Any one growing Echinacea?

Post by Izhar »

I have two plants which are growing at a slower pace, one is blooming (E. purpurea). It has many varieties which are propagated by cuttings or clump divisions.. it is very nice plant for a cottage type garden.. I am looking for more varieties for the next season.. as it is perennial so it needs a permanent place...

I got few seeds of magnus if you wanna grow. I grew white swan the fragrant cultivar but a friend took my plant. Also got razzmatazz :)

This plant requires lots of root space. Mine growing in pot did not bloom and the one in soil bed also did not bloom :( It gets sheltered sunlight as it is surrounded by many vines and other plants.

I am due to get seeds of double decker but i am not sure whether double flower will be produced in our climate or not.

Adnan, InshaAllah i'll post the picture tomorrow.. it is in a small pot..

In Karachi there is a nursery in Clifton by the name of Lalazar, Mr. Khurram over there grew the varieties "PowWow wild berry" and "PowWow white" last fall season from seeds, they are large plants with big blooms, he wanted to propagate it through clump divisions..

It is a slow plant compared to the annuals we usually grow, I hope it will pick up the pace when the whether cools a bit.. I will try to collect the seeds of my blooming plant.. bees love it, at least one bee on it every time I look it..

Thompson and Morgan mentions that "White Swan" has honey like fragrance.. I was to purchase its seeds from them along with other Echinacea like "Magic Box"..

There are many named varieties which are propagated through only clump division and cuttings, with lovely blooms, for example:

Hot Summers
Amazing Dream
Fragrant Angel
Hot Lava
Green eyes
Hope
Tomato Soup and many more....

if you are coming from teen talwar ...enter the KPT underpass and take first left... you'll be able to see many pots and plants by the footpath. The nursery is on the service road.
