Any comments if it can be grown in islamabad? So far I thought the weather here is not suitable; even Lahore.

It is really interesting to see the pic of the plant in the link i thought it grows on trees or even bigger shrubs.

I am eager to know whether anyone has experience of growing it here in Karachi. It is worth trying.

from my little experience and little knowledge, it will grow well in karachi and islamabad only thing to worry is the cold weather. just bring the container inside ur home lawn rather then outside. thats all i think and it shud do fine.....

I tried growing a pineapple from the leafy crown of the pineapple in Karachi many eons ago. It survived for a long time (~ 1 year if I remember) but it was never healthy in terms of growth and never bore the fruit. I didn't explore the causes of this failure.

i think from the crown it takes min. 3 years to become mature and bore fruit.....

in August this year i got 2 DOLE crowns, from "Metro"
it was too wet at that time,
i planted them in the ground and when i say the leaves started rotting , i thought i should transplant to them to pots and bring in some dray place.
when i uprooted them after just three days, they have 6-inch long roots !!!

but after a week they died in pot ...............

Today i bought a pineapple from market, it crown is very fresh, ......
@ fa113nang311, please share , did you planted it in the pot or ground ? any special advise ? please post photos and keep in touch, i will post photos too..

i planted mine in a pot and it was doing fine till two days ago. it rotted too. i watered to much and i think it cant last winter...i will surely try again in good weather....this time winter is too harsh.....many plants need care otherwise they will die....i posted one week ago its photos,check my other photo post....

Is there any suitable time round the year to sow this crown?
