Khan sb, Tomatoes are a bit difficult to grow in the summer, tomatoes have an extensive rooting system and transplanting them after one and a half month would not be a wise idea, they might not survive but even if they do the summer heat will not show any mercy and destroy them, its better to grow them in the coming fall i.e. mid August.ka_khan wrote:Transplanting is done after 4-5 weeks.I had a problem.Grown some plants and transplanted some plants outside the house. The Plants are good and about 1 1/2 month old.Can i shift the outside plants? If i pull them completely with their Roots, will they survive?

Re: Growing Tomatoes
I would suggest that you wait for monsoon to arrive... plant the tomato seeds in mid August when the weather is quite humid and seeds germinate a lot easier without the worry of seedlings burning up by heat, secondly transplant your seedlings when they have 3-4 pairs of true leaves in final position by no longer than mid September... you might not get the desired results from the plants if the transplanting gets late.bushrasherwani wrote:when would it be a good idea to grow tomatoes in sialkot?the weather here now is hot and dry but in coming weeks it will be VERY humid as rice planting will start

Re: Growing Tomatoes
Assalam-O-Alaikum
I want to grow early variety of tomatoes in Rural area of Dera Ghazi Khan where average Temperature from July to October ranges between
Month Daytime Highest Night Lowest
July 47 30
August 43 28
September 42 26
October 42 26
Is it possible to grow this Early variety in current conditions for commercial purpose where tomatoes are sold at highest rates in OCT/Nov @ 180/per Kg.
Your expert opinion really matters.

Re: Growing Tomatoes
I would recommend to wait till August when humidity is at its highest. In July, seedling plants may become infested with mites.flowers wrote:i have bought tomato seeds from shop can i grow them in this month i mean in july ? because i see in the above link that early crop sowing time is from july to august... please answer (karachi)
