So here it goes. Have tried to propagate roses but cuttings don't seem to work for many roses. So i thought why not air-layer? Tried before but it didn't work because i was careless and the medium dried. but now, mashAllah, I have roots! :D ..

I'll post details later. Thought I'd share because next week i would get busy in exams.

Best,

Hamza

Wouldnt the air layered rose stem require a graft for it to flower or would it be a clone of the original graft and produce similar.flowers ??

in simple words, yes it will be a clone and produce exactly the same flower...

The rose will grow on its own roots. And as Izhar bhai said, grafting is faster/cheaper/commercial and budding is done because whole stems are not used, just "eyes".

I have been thinking for a long time about air layering rose. PLEASE let the forum know details. I tried cuttings and most of them have not succeeded. What is the best Ike to air layer a rose. For most plants is monsoon but Im wondering if the cooler months are better for roses???
