Mostly soil is more towards alkaline side in Lahore but it does varies. Its better to get your soil test from some laboratory. Roses like the neutral to slight acidic soils.

You can add sulfer and epsum soln in diluted form. Not add to much at a time. Sulfer degenrate slowly and if safe and effective.
Would not recommend choona. There are already excess amount of Ca/Mg salts in an alkaline soil.
Best to add compost and old manure in coming season. that is best for soil conditioning and revitalising the soil too. roses like too and soil texture improves with these additions.

Sulphur powder will also help fight the fungal disease.

Re: soil type for roses in lahore
thanks for guidance mr. mustansir and mr.rafique. my understanding still unclear of the matter, however manure and leaf compost i understand can do no harm even if applied excessively. further they are good fro roses. using these two until i have better understanding of salts. this year didnt lose a single rose and hope it stays that way.

Re: soil type for roses in lahore
gypsum seems to have done wonders for the soil texture and the roses are responding very well.
