Very interesting thread. Very comprehensively explained by Newton sb and there isn't much to say. I am also not sure if there is any method to measure age of a rose bush precisely but I do know that some of the old roses and specie roses can live for hundreds of years. Modern roses have relatively smaller lives but still survive for decades. In Canada, I saw few old rose bushes which looked more like a small tree with quite a thick stem. Some of them were reported to be around 100 years old and were mostly seen in symmetries / graveyards.
