Issue with Newly Bought Roses
Few days back i bought some Roses from a Local Nursery.. and they all are without POT as they sold in (GAACHI) as nursery men says.. the problem is that i ran out of BIG Pots .. the nursery man told me that they can survive for weeks in the same condition in GAACHI just shower water on them regularly.. now when i arrange BIG POTS and Potted those roses .. few of them showing the sign of survival and few showing dead.
i will upload pics too soon.. but please tell me if my roses will survive or Not.
or any special instructions for me.. please advise.

Don,t worry its normal with newly planted plants. The bushes will shed all the leaves & will produce new ones in the spring.

I had the same problem and thought it was the cold dry weather of karachi. I have done some godee around the bedded part and put some organic fertiliser and watered generously. Some signs of growth are visible now, hoping they will survive.

They will survive insha-Allah. Dont let the soil to completely dry out. Keep it moist but not soggy. Do not give any further dose of fertilizer till their recovery.Rahooja wrote:I had the same problem and thought it was the cold dry weather of karachi. I tried same roses last year, all are healthy and flowering regularly. I also decided to buy few more roses in GAACHI, waiting for English roses in nurseries near to my home. Desi roses cost Rs. 60 for each plant.new gardener wrote:thanks a lot for ur advise sir.. at least that give me hope .

Re: Issue with Newly Bought Roses
I have also bought some rose plants recently....when i got them frm Nursery...they were healthy with lush green leaves and roses as well...but after first bloom...new leaves were not healthy neither the blooms of that size. Usually new rose plants are grafted i.e with one stem a new healthy branch has been attached. After few days of plantation it needs lot of energy n struggle to survive.
I want to know should i only encourage the grafted branch to grow or cut the other growth frm the Original stem....or i should let the plant grow as it is growing.
Below atyach pic is one of the roses...its quite new arrival..u can see a beautiful rose...but after it...there will be no bigger roses nor the leaves...

Let the branches to grow orignating from or above the graft union. Pluck the flowers and buds and let the plant to concentrate on root growth only for newly planted roses. Once the roots are establish then plant will grow vigorously. Dont give them heavy doses of fertilzers for newly planted roses. Container media should be well drained and moist.
