Re: bulb
For me soaked renun sprouted in 15 days , the ones i didn't soak still not sprouted. I used Khabab's technique of "wet sand" for Anemone and is working well .

Re: bulb
I grew ranunculas directly in pot and within 15 days it started to grow.
Now todays raining is badly effecting these ranunculus bulbs and other bulbs.

Re: bulb
Even an 8 hour rain will not effect the bulbs unless a poor drainage is there, once it rains next watering should be delayed, but consecutive days of rain spell effects badly. We have a rainy season here as well, my pots are mostly under plastic sheet, but once they sprout water need increases and threat of overwatering reduces.

Re: bulb
I had planted some bulbs on 11 Oct , including Hyacinth (1),Daffodil (1), Iris (2), Ixia (3),Tulip (3),Rununclus (5),Crocus (8) & Freezia(8). Another group on 17 Oct, including Norcissus (8) & Rununclus (11),the last one preserved from previous year.
Conditions : In pots ;.. medium - soil & F.manure equal parts ..Ist 4-5 weeks kept in open with 3-4 hrs sun & covered at night , now kept in the verandah with 2 -3 hrs sun ; .. daily light/mild watering ;...no fertilizer used
Results after 9-10 Weeks : Norcissus & Renunclus planted on 17 Oct,a week later than others have shown better result. 7 out of 8 Norcussis have grown a foot high, 4 in some flowers; 7 out of 11 Renunclus have also grown to about 5-6"height. Others :
. 6 out of 8 Freezias are now 7-10"tall, 1 is 3-4" tall ,while tip of 1 has just appeared .
. Hycinth (1), Daffodil(1) : Tips appeared
. Iris : one is 3-4" tall , one only a tip ( I mean a sprout upto 1" size)
. Tulip : one in tip, 2 not yet
. Ixia : one 3-4" tall, one yet to sprout while one has died.
. Crocus : three in tips , five yet to sprout
Expert Opinion is requested please, particularly about:
. Is this normal growth or otherwise?
. Were the bulbs planted on time?
. Any shortfall in conditions?

Re: bulb
The time of planting was ideal, the sprouting is good, the medium used should have 2:1 ratio of soil and manure, they should be kept under more sun.. what kind of iris it is? dutch or bearded?? in my opinion only ranunculus and iris (if bearded) need extra fertilizer as they produce multiple blooms...

Re: bulb
Thank u Izhar for an instant reply. I am obliged & encouraged. Honestly I dont know the type; I didn't enquire then, since I had not joined this forum, as such was not much focused.Noted for future. Surprisingly, there has been little progress in the growth since my first post on it. Let us wait & see.

Re: bulb
Out of the lot I only planted my saved Ranunculus bulbs and NONE sprouted, perhaps I killed them during storage.
