I think its stigma would be used as End product thts why its so Pricey .. as they only bear few stigma in each flowers.. Just a guess .. :P

medium (sand+soil+compost) with equal ratio. organilly the red color thread is zafran. which is very effictive to body as a medicnal point of viwe , and most pople used its thread (zafran) for cooking

Interesting.Please also mention about the following,unless it is confidential,shouldn't be though:
. How is the red thread collected ?
. Is it further processed or preserved?
. What is the form of the end product?
. Is it a commercial project or just as a hobby?
. Is it the same thing as Crocus?

@Sufi : Saffron plants is grown by seeds, or by some other thing? And in Pakistan from where we can get?

Asalamo Alikum all.I do saffron in Lahore just like the fresia,,They multiply fast same like fresia.
This is because that the families are same of freesia,gladiolus and Saffron.

I would really like to know since when and how you are managing to grow them successfully? ? Multiplying is not an achievement but if it flower successfully then that's an achievement, please reply in detail as when to plant, soil composition, any fertilizer if u r applying, exposure and how to secure them for following season, I would love to grow them but the only issue is they are native to cold areas.
