Saffron (Zafran) - Crocus Sativus

Post by Baazigar » December 27th, 2013, 6:07 am

I purchased some saffron (Crocus sativus) corms few years ago but they never produced any flowers. Many other types of Crocus, Tulips, Hyacinths, etc. do very well here in CA, USA though. Just saw some pictures of Saffron plants/flowers on BBC & decided to share.

Nice share. If zafraan were easy to grow, it wouldn't be very expensive :-). I think the main issue might be the lack of proper (cold) temperature in California.

Regards.

Very nice. The medium looks to be more of (white) sand than other components; what is the ratio? And then what is the purpose of growing this crop; could you please also explain what & how would you get & use the end product?
