Today I UN-potted all of my Amaryllis, last year I had changed the potting medium of the most. I had added 2mm size kairi (broken bricks)To make it more porous and believing that in addition to adsorbing it will also absorb some water thus providing better aeration and better drainage. To my surprise the root growth was much better in pots having Bhall only.
I have left 3 inches of soil and left them to dry on the roof top for two weeks. On 20 th I will remove the leaves, Chill them for 4 weeks Place them in a warm place for 2 weeks and plant in pots

Izhar,
Why did you pull them out? I would have let them grow and grow in the pot. If you believe in forcing dormancy then stop watering your large bulbs Dec-Jan.

Sir, these all were in garden beds and i wanted each to have its own pot, this digging & drying method worked for me but now as I have learned from your experience and observing other gardener's hippeastrums, i will keep them in pot and let them bloom on their own from now onwards..

I am trying to collect some varieties of Amaryllis but have found hardly 5-7 types available locally. I have imported 10 different types but want to develop a larger selection. Can anyone advice on where to procure or if someone can share?

I was reading the posts of learned gardeners on Hippeastrum for guidance. I have almost all of them in pots or plastic kiaries. From above posts I am confused. Please Arif sahib and Izhar sahib please guide, should I pull the bulbs out in early December or leave them there. If I leave them there should I cut there leaves. Shall be obliged for guidance
