Dahlia Tubers Storage.

Post by Umair »

Aoa, Dear Members.

Please share ur experience of storing Dahlia Tubers with Respect to Lahore weather.

1. Should tubers be taken out from ground as they are still growing good foliage.
2. If left in soil will they survive or not.
3. If they do not survive in soil then they should be 'dried' for storing or not.
4. They should be stored alone wrapped in newspaper or they should be stored along in some medium like compost/peat moss/coco peat/sand for maintaing their moisture.

Thanx

I havent replied because it was meant for Lahore members... in Karachi, best method is to leave them in soil... if there are chances of rain water then put in a pot with soil and keep dry...

Same as Karachi, leave them in soil. You must protect from rains. The tuber gets rot from over watering or rains. I never tried but i think a fungicide should also be tried.

Lolz. My dear members u r a little late in replying. But still ur reply is appreciated and will be acted upon this season.
What i did was i pulled out the tubers washed them, dried them and then placed them in a dry open place.
3 weeks back i replanted them. Lets see if they will sprout again. They are placed in a location which has morning direct sunlight for 2 hours and i do let them dry between waterings. Lets see what happens. Any early advice on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanx Izhar Sb. & Khabbab Sb.
