Other Details Gardenia jasminoides is a must for any perfume garden. Gardenia produces extremely fragrant flowers. Gardenia is usually trained as a bush. The fragrance can be felt from far away on hot humid days. However it is not very easy to care plant. Compare the pictures of healthy plants vs an unhealthy plant. The key problem is the yellowing of leaves and mealy bugs (see picture no. 3 below). Variegated leaves are also available (picture no. 2). Healthy gardenias have deep green leathery leaves (Picture 1). The yellowing of gardenia leaves can be easily corrected by using ferrous sulfate.

Thanks for your appreciation. This the very reason we are compiling a database of Pakistani garden plants .... to educate each other about what can be grown in Pakistan.

My Variegated Gardenia is still blooming and continue to produce flower buds, so it does bloom in cooler months in Karachi. However, the growth rate is slowed down.

Riaz sb, apparently the Urdu name is Gulchand (from web) but most nurserymen would call it Gardenia
