Other Details	Cordyline is a popular house plant in Pakistan, well known for its maroon coloured foliage. Some cordyline species have just dark green leaves. However the maroon variety is rather popular. Also the amount of light may control the foiage colour. Cordyline is a monocotyledon. It is a pest free plant that can very well inside our homes. It is very rare to see this plant flower, perhaps very old or mature plants produce flowers. Newer varieties (or species) are available in Pakistani nurseries which have bright pink stripes on the leaves. There is a interesting question: How to differentiate Cordyline and Dracaena plants because look very similar. The key is to check the roots. Unfortunately, neither Cordyline nor Dracaena flower so frequently and it is difficult to identify only on the basis of leaf width. Sellers also mix them up. However, the trick is to check the root colours. That is the easiest way I can think of. Song of India which is another Dracaena, has orange roots whereas real Cordylines have normal coloured roots.
