Other Details | It will be an injustice to garden plants if Pothos is not listed here. It is no doubt that Pothos is one of the most popular plants of Pakistan (if not the most popular). Even those who are not interested in gardening do have a this vine in their homes. Pothos can climb trees or walls with the help of its aerial roots. It is extremely rare to see it flower in domestic environments, but botanical literature does suggest that Pothos flowers once in a while. Pothos can also be grown in water, where it easily gives off water roots with few days. Needs well drained soil. Caution: 1)Pothos sap is quite irritating. Of course, nobody in sane mind would crush the leaves and apply it on the skin, but when the sap comes in contact with skin it can hurt us badly - the pain ranges from mild smarting pain to severe irritation in sensitive people! 2)Pothos also has insoluble, but highly needle-like pointed crystals of calcium oxalate. These sharp crystals can cause severe pain in the mouth if a child or a pet ingests the leaves. That is why goats and other animals do not chew its leaves. |
