Polyscias guilfoylei "Victoria" (Foliage Plant)

Post by M Farooq »

This sparsely branched plant belongs to Polynesia. Polyscias can grow up to 20 ft and has fern like serrated leaves (like a saw-tooth). Prune only to remove damaged leaves.

If I remember correctly, this is a very common plant in Karachi (last visited over 10 years back),but hardly seen upcountry.Reasons?

This is perhaps because this plant likes humidity (or rather avoids dry spell).

I was a very frequent visitor to Karachi in the early 80s & mid/late 90s. Everytime I brought back 8-10 plants-the maximum I could manage in the hand carry, which at times included this plant also. I think it did survive with me, but Croton & Dieffenbachias never did in winters.
