Freesia is a genus of around 16 species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, endemic to the eastern side of southern Africa, from Kenya to South Africa, The plants with fragrant funnel-shaped flowers, are cultivated hybrids of a number of Freesia species. They make excellent container plants provided they are given support to their heavy bloom stalks.
