I had grown thousands of them in the past.Hand pollinated double gerbera seeds and succeeded in getting over a hundred seeds from each flower.I treated them with 6-BAP,Giberallic acid,IBA,Kinetin from the word go and result was unbelievable.5-6 inch flowers, clumps forming within 6 months from seed.

I have now a hundred only.Replaced all of them with hybrid registered daylilies.

Could you please upload pics of Gerberas if u have any. I tried to grow gerbera from seeds few years back in Rawalpindi but was unsuccessful at it.

You'll have to wait a month or so before I could capture them blooming.

I am a failure in growing them. They just keep dying.
Adnan gave me three pots of the best. Planted by his father himself, placed at his suggested place. Only one is thriving others are on death bed. Soon I would be shifting all of them in a bed recommended by him.
Funny the ones I could not care less at another site are doing well in spite of the neglect.

Gerberas need care.

They like 6-7 hours of sunlight and may require afternoon shade in summer.They'll reward well if grown in well drained soil.I grow mine in bhal.They donot like leaf compost or cow manure.They are prone to fungus so keep them away from such things.

Gerberas require insecticide spray every 15 days and anti fungal treatment every month.The result ... Healthy clumps and 9 months of continuous blooming from August to April. Fertilize with NPK every 15-20 days.

Fungus waiting to happen ... Gerberas are prone to fungus and rot if over fed with manure.
