Re: Rain has arrived
Half an hour ago a 40 ft + sufaida tree fell on our parking lot. My car was saved by mere margin of 10 Ft. The shed it shattered was luckily empty

Re: Rain has arrived
Today and next few days are more Crucial
As per Pakistan Met Department's report-on 10 June- 3pm
Met-Office predicted the pre-monsoon showers with dust-thunderstorm over Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions), Lower Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions), southeast Balochistan (Kalat, Makran & Naseerabad divisions) and Kashmir in next 36-48 hrs and the prevailing extreme heat wave is likely to subside in most parts of the country from Wednesday/Thursday. Thunderstorm-Rain is also expected at scattered places in south Punjab, Upper Sindh, lower KP and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.
Spokesman of PMD also informed that a fresh westerly wave is also expected to approach upper parts of the country on Wednesday (evening)/Thursday that would interact with pre-monsoon currents and as a result, widespread thunderstorm-rain associated with strong gusty winds and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places is expected in Upper Punjab (Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sargodha division), Upper KP (Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar and Kohat division) and Kashmir between Thursday-Sunday.
Probability of devastation through strong winds/storm is more than flood this time?

Re: Rain has arrived
Destruction/loss due to winds are isolated incidents......floods wreck mass havoc. Flooding is a major threat.

Re: Rain has arrived
That is sad. I only remember one such incident in the mid 80s. I think that was the worst "aandhi" in Karachi...Huge and old trees, of Bakayan, Drumstick in our house were knocked down by the winds! But you are a meteorological expert...may be you have seen more disasters in other parts of Pk.farhan137 wrote:Many other trees up rooted as well :-)
