Thought I would share this easy and inexpensive method to test your soil.

Nice idea. The bubbling test of soils with an acid (typically hydrochloric acid) is also an official method to detect carbonate based alkalinity in soils, so this is quite a reliable approach to detect alkalinity in soils.

Slightly skeptical of the bicarbonate test ...but it should work too if the soil's pH value is lower than 3.6. Such a soil will be very unhealthy to begin with.

Nice info. However the next step is also very important........if someone's is really bothered about soil PH.
That is quantitative test for exact PH, because it enables us to know how much correction to apply.
