Amarcrinum not flowering

Post by khabbab »

I got a healthy offset of Amarcrinum from a friend in france in December 2011 and i planted them it right away in soil bed. It grew very good but no flowers in 2012. In 2013 i was hoping for flowers but it produced offsets instead of flowers. It gets 4 hours direct sun and remaining indirect bright sun. I have seen amaryllis and crinums flowering in semi shade so sun exposure should not be a problem. Any tips why it is not flowering?

I agree, just give it some time. Perhaps the bulb is not old enough to flower yet. My Amarcrinums also make a lot of offsets every year. My bigger bulbs should flower in the next month or two. Here is a photo of another year when it flowered.

Thanks guys, i will wait then. Heinie, your amarcrinum is beautiful. Actually because belladonna does not flower well in my climate (see this post http://www.gardeningpakistan.com/viewto ... 629#p23873) which is the parent of amarcrinum, i am not sure that amarcrinum will flower here. But fingers crossed.
