Re: Need Guidance on Planting Marigolds
Go for seedlings.Purchase F-1 Inca from Pak Flora nursery. They offer high quality seedlings on reasonable rates.Don,t purchase seeds now.You must have been planted your Inca before 20th of this month as the night temps are going to drop.If you are late then the bloom size will be not desireable for which Inca is famous.
Plnt your seedlings.Dont apply old cow manure before planting as manure holds moisture which will end up your plants.Apply manure after a week when you see your seedlings are strong enough.Apply manure in godi. The seedlings will acheive some hight.when they reach 1 ft high cutt off above three sets of leaves to increase bushsness & making the plant stronger & compct. If they gain hight again cutt off for second time. When you see small buds are forming apply DAP in godi & water. After a week enjoy the blooms.Keep one thing in mind Inca from seeds bear smaller flowers Inca from cuttings bear the biggest possible flowers for which this variety is famous
When ever you see some white lines on the foliage spray any anti mites. The foliage will show some white lines at first & soon will be curly.Another threat in Islamabad specially are slugs.use anti slugs & snails which you can get from any garden centre.

Re: Need Guidance on Planting Marigolds
Since you live in Pindi, you can get Inca F1 seedlings from Playland Nursery near Shifa Eye Hosp as well. It is my experience that all nurseries,at least the main use the same seeds; infact there are only 2-3 seed suppliers from whom they all get the seeds.
On whether to use the purchased seeds or get seedlings,I prefer buying seedlings which has many advantages, except that useing seeds purchased in bulk for large areas are cheaper if you can get good germination like Nurseries eg, Inca 1 is Rs.1.80 per seed, while the seedlings are at least Rs.4 apiece. For smaller requirements there is more hassle & less saving, yet unsure results.

I am plantinting Inca I for the last 10 years in this climate.Cuttings give superior results.some nursermen say cuttings are dupl;icate cause they want to sale seedlings from seeds which gives them high returns.Don,t start from seeds just go & purchase Seedlings or rooted cuttings.Sarfsraz no is 03335105187 owner of Pak flora nursery.Javed sb if you are looking for the pernial portulaca different colors its available at Lahore nursery opp gate no 06,Itwar bazar.
