yea, recommended time is till 15th April.
I dont know exactly about sowing in May month in Lahore, when as I know temp: there is near to 40C. I myself belong to temperate area. I dont know about tropical area like Lahore.
Let to sow and get to learn from ur experience. Dont worry if ur seeds get spoiled. Experience is a best facilitator. If u take risk, put ur newly seeded pots in shaded and cool area.
Adding well rotted compost in beds for direct sowing is no problem. Adding well rotted organic matter in soil is a good agriculture practice.
