Islamabad: Fruit Trees for lawn

Post by Bilal »

Hey there fellas, am delighted to see so many passionate gardeners :)

Well, just joined the forum and thought of seeking your advice as to what are the best fruit tree options for home lawn in ISLAMABAD

I was wondering about Plum and Cherry and some shady trees on corners (not sure, which ones)

Also, would love to use some fancy vines for the boundary walls.

Please share your thoughts, experiences, recommendations.

Cheers

Welcome on the forum

As far as vines or climbers are concerned you can have one of following

Rangoon strongly recommended it’s a fast growing vine with beautiful fragrant
flowers and it can also add a very beautiful feature in your garden
Wisteria is very beautiful but slow growing and take a long time to start flowering
Bougainville is also a nice option but need to check its types and their attributes
Jasminum Grandiflorum is again a fragrant one
Beaumontia grandiflora very very beautiful but not fragrant
clerodendrum splendens beautiful vine with thick structure good for patio garden

They are good for Islamabad climate but I’m not sure about some other vines because I haven’t
tried them in Islamabad and have less knowledge about trees but you can check some posts on
this forum search.php and I hope some tree specialists will help
you InshAllah ;)

Beaumantia Grandiflora,Rangoon climber,Bougainvillea, trumpet vein are best veins to grow in Islamabad.among flowering trees ,Lagerstonia,Jacoranda, silver oak, cassia nadosa, cassia fistula,Indian coral tree are very easy to grow in Islamabad.try mango sensation its unique that its dwarf variety plus ripes in OCT.its fruits are very decorative red.pears are good in Islamabad climate.among palm tree Alexander & Queen are best in sense they are very hardy & do not even need protection against frost.Don,t ever try the most beautiful Fox tail palm at Islamabad.it can not survive our winters.

Much thanks MrHamad, Mr Arif and Mr Umar for your valuable suggestions and such nice pictures. Sinacio looks the best.

I am quite a beginner so will search for the pictures of these suggested vines.
By the way do grapes grow in islamabad?

Also, what are your suggestions for shady fruit trees. I like rich green and big trees.
Cheers

Yes Bilal grapes grow very nice in Islamabad.if you want big shady trees plant Langda mango tree,Chunsa mango tree, lychee tree or white shahtoot.(i dont recommend you the black shahtoot).black shahtoot is also very sweet but its stains can not be cleaned from clothes.another thing if you want some thing different you can try Avacando fruit tree.
