I would say the main reason for people not liking marigolds is its commonness.....its by far the only plant available in late summer/fall.....i disliked it too but now i a realize that there is a reason for its commonness. Its sturdiness. Its Hardy enough, easily cultivable and trouble free with long lasting blooms......Name any annual which can match that

Bulbs in general are rewarding since you wait for that majic moment when the flower stalk comes for so long. In case of some of the bulbs I listed you might have to wait 5-7 years!!
I'm not certain what my true passion is yet as I am definitely a rose aficianado so far but bulbs intrigue me too much. My first and continuous fascination are fragrant shrubs and recently I have developed a curiosity for fragrant vines or ones with unique flowers. My gardening hobby is just about 1.5 years old only and I guess we'll have to see where my heart truely lies. So far I am interested in evrything but haven't yet develved too deep into fruiting trees and cactus and for these I need more time and energy I yet not have.

Farhan I agree with that assessment also maybe that is the reason we get tired of them since they come and then just stay and are the only thing around and everywhere too!

Agreed cocks com is also a nice option and now they do offer hybrid F1 and F2 kind
or quality and it depend where you are planting and how it can look beautiful if used
properly in the garden.
