Izhar Sb, do these require Chill/frost protection & be also placed under plastic cover till mid Feb, like vine tomatoes?
Normal bush type tomatoes are actually transplanted in the open after 15 Feb,in this region. Tahir Sb & any one else growing these in Islamabad area could also add their comments.

Just snip off the fresh growth and let the lower side shoots grow.

Yes tomatoes a very sensitive to cold...the plant may survive but it will either not set fruit or the growth will be stunned ...use of plastic sheet and maximum sunlight is beneficial in winters.

Tahir Khan, thank you for confirming.I also thought so.Last year,I had all Cherry tomatoe plants in the open.Though they did bear fruit, but the size & quantity was reduced. This time I have put them under plastic sheet, except one in the pot which stays in the open for comparison. Let us see.

u need to build a small green house for the tomatoes , its cheap and very easy……. and add lime , always while preparing for the soil… as this will increase the growth and greenhouse will give them heat….. …. …. and if ur growing tomatoes for yield u definitely know to cut down the side shoots :)
