Assalamoalaikum,
I am a new member here I have a question regarding potting soil.
Almost all of western gardening sites recommend using perlite in potting mixes for airing and drainage.
Now perlite is available in pakistan but it cost around 2.5k per bag which is quite expensive.
Pumice and growstones are stated as its alternative but they are not available in pakistan as far as I I know. Some have suggested rice hulls but I have not seen anyone using it.
My question was what is the local alternative substrate used by local gardeners in their potting mix.
perlite substitute
