Can we use Dairy Manure which is piles for 6 months?

Post by ausman »

May it has been answered before but I couldn't find the exact information. I want to know can I use the dairy manure which is piled for 6+ months. In our village, many farmers keep placing the manure at one place for 6+ months and then spread it in the fields. Can I take it and use in the vegetable garden? When this piled manure is spread it looks still moist, few layers of black colors and few of brown.

6 Months is good enough, however more reliable could be that it is dry and non-smelly.

Izhar sb. has said in the recent post and I also 100% agree with him when the smell of the manure is gone then it is ready to use.

Thanks friends. Is there any need of compost if I use this type of manure with top soil only.
