Dear All,
Can anyone help me to find what is happening with my cacti? Their lower portion suddenly starting squeezing inside and turning into brown color.
You can see in pics.
Regards,
Irfan Siddique

Re: Cactus are dying
The first clearly has stem rot. Cacti r dormant in winters so even slightly increased watering with poorly draining soil will push the plant towards rot.

Re: Cactus are dying
These are fungal diseases, the stock of the yellow gymnocalycium cactus is rotting away so you will have to re-graft the upper part on a fresh stock while the brown spots is a type of fungal infection. You are most probably watering too much and the medium is not free draining in these plastic pots. I water my cacti only once a month as they are dormant these days. Please stop watering and change the pot and medium of the plants. Use clay pots and sandy soil mix.
