Date Plant

I planted date plant in my garden about four years back,it is now almost 6 feet in height,although its trunk is no more than 6 inch in height but its leaves which emerges from its trunk from ground reaches this height,now my question is it has two small baby plants also emerging from its sides soil about six inch away from its truck,what i am suppose to do with those baby plants shall i cut them or let them grow?second how long it will take to give fruit as when it was planted it was two feet in height but yet after four years it do not have wooden trunk instead only have green trunk,someone told me that date plant takes almost 7 to 9 years to fruits is it true.

from baby plants (suckers) it take 2-3 years for date palm to fruit... from seed it may be longer than 9-10 years...

which variety of date is it? have you confirmed its female??

baby plants emerging from base should be taken out as they hinder the main stem growth and look untidy..

i dont know its variety it was gifted to me and from DG.khan and person told me its black colour long size date.
i have grown ajwa date plants from its seeds will it take 9 years to fruit?

Yes and the ajwa tree fruits will not be same as real ajwa... people have done this a lot....
