Flowering plants for the desert

Post by eagergardener »

Aoa. I know it is early to ask for this but this summer i am planning extensively for my garden. I live in Bahawalpur and the temperatures can vary between 38-45 C in summer and it becomes extremely difficult to get flowers blooming. I have had success with sunflowers, zinnias, portulacas and vinncas. I need to know what else to grow besides these? One of my relatives is returning from the US and i wanted to order seeds in bulk for mass planting. Please help me choose beforehand so i can place my order before that person comes. Flowering plants besides the ones mentioned. Thank you!

It is not early, just the right time to start planning!

I think you have the most common ones right on spot. You could try sunflowers and portulaca which I know are used extensively in desertscaping.
Why not try different aloes and cacti?

Thanks for your reply. I already have a few cacti and other succulents since they survive every weather by default.
