Climber not growing upward and Marwa

I have a climber (most probably chambeli white flowers) it's not growing upwards but a lot of new branches sprouting and getting thick instead of climbing up.
The other one is marwa which is not growing much nor getting thick (it's planted with two francesia plants (which haven't even grown a new leaf from last 4-5 months).

I don't have soil so all my plants are in large containers.
