House garden (my dream)

I think, a balanced garden would be one with a good mix of diverse variety of foliage,colours & fragrance,available round the year. Roses or annuals alone or together or with a few others may not serve the purpose. Therefore, there is a need of a focused exercise by a knowledgable & more importantly an experienced member,to work out a broad guidelines package for our climate & environments. Abundant information in this respect is already lying scattered in this Forum, which could be handy in preparing a common package for most situations in our context. For example- a lot of useful information has become available on growing Tubers in Pakistan, in a thread with this name started recently by Hamad Sb.I wonder if somebody could come forward for this cause.

If I may add: I too- may be like many others,am nurturing the dream to create an all weather, all season garden which provides adequate if not utmost pleasure & pride. Somehow I have not been able to create one over the last 3-4 years, primarily due to my lack of understanding & expertise. I now want to benefit from this Forum, for which I should soon be presenting my existing Garden for critical comments & suggestions from Members.Hope to get a good response from the Members.

This looks like a typical Canadian or Northern US house and as I can see, the owner is a rich man. It's easily a two million $ house and if one has money as well as taste, it is so easy over there to call a professional nursery and they will gladly do it for few thousand bucks. This garden is a seasonal garden, stuffed with seasonal flowers. I wonder how would it look like in Aug and what would be its shape in fall?

Gardening can not be judged on the outcome of plants health as an over all......The above garden has an excellent climate in which it thrives, almost pest free conditions, compost, fertilizers, pesticide...the best of it that is available in the world. No harsh phenomenon such as 240 mm rain in one day. No Sandy, alkaline soil conditions of our country.......They have all the exotics available at their doorstep whereas over here Nothing out of the box is available(seeds/seedlings/plants)......
Tell me what i and you have?????? and than think isn't what you are doing a wonder?????

Farhan bhai, believe me gardening is much easier in Pakistan if we grow the right plants. These guys have problems much more than ours. Our problem is that we at times (and rightly so) get too fascinated by seeing the pics of these western gardens and try to grow the same thing here which is difficult. If we just select the right plants, gardening in Pakistan is much easier in my view.

Munir sb I already quoted in my Tuber post that if we could have a list for Annuals

Thank you Tahir for adding some more Tuber in our list, I would strongly recommend to have a same list for Annuals and sub category as Summer and winter Annuals but only if someone would also like to step forward, because these kind of list would always beneficial for us and others for the future reference and for planning our gardens

I know we already have some details of Annuals in the forum under different sections and topics but its hard to retrieve(dig in) the information because its scattered but if our experienced and knowledgeable members contribute we can compile a single list of Annuals under one topic for future reference then that would be great, if someone would step forward I will really appreciate or otherwise I will launch another thread under annuls but contribution would be requested as I don't have much knowledge of annuals and it would be appreciated.

Every individual has his own perception of dream garden, perhaps we should learn to see it from their point of view so that we can admire it even more.
The amount of money you have has nothing to do with your garden; it is simply your love for what you want in your garden. I spent 10 days with my (one of the closest cousin) who is in USA over 50 years. He has this home spread over 40 Kanals;









He love cars from child hood, currently he has 34 with six custom built very expensive ones.
He has beautiful garden studded with fruit trees, flowering trees, ornamental plants, well kept hedges but very few annuals or bulbs.
His gardening interest is his vegetable garden which is much bigger than my home garden.



He grows all Pakistani vegetables but is specialist in growing Chillies from around the world.

I cant degrade his garden because it doesn’t have enough Annuals, I will always remember the sweet fragrance of his whit Lagerstronium which were in full bloom.

Sir I absolutely agree with every word of above. A "seasonal only" garden is not much of fascination for me but for someone else it might be all important. My sincere apologies for sounding inappropriate in my post. I didn't mean any disrespect towards anyone.
