Re: Benefits of Gardening
Forty viewers and not a comment, you know why?
By nature we are a nation of TMASHBEENS.
We love to watch while others are performing, it may be singing, dancing, playing etc or even gardening.
Farhan, there is so much stress on mulch, it is used all over, why dont we?

Re: Benefits of Gardening
Maybe its a culture we are unaware of and specifically its benefits.
unavailability of mulching materials on commercial scale, only source is DIY/scavenge.
Maybe because we are not afraid of soil as westerners . We like to play around it.
Maybe because rainfall is scarce other than monsoon.
Then our gardens are informal, theirs formal. Like cottage gardens go without mulching.
More inclination towards annuals in some cases.
Concept of hoeing which the west has lost mainly because of less man-hour/labor available to them (or very costly)
Their media is exceptional in planned gardens, therefore they do not have issues like hoeing/porosity.
and lastly we spend only on what appears to give instant profit and not long term. They are farsighted as well as better off financially than us
